CEO Forum (invitation only) Men, Women and The Readiness to Stretch
Speaker: Selena Rezvani

Stretch assignments are all the rage. Companies like them because they act as a trial run of an employee’s competence.  Employees like them because they’re a temporary opportunity to lean into an area of interest.  But what factors go into men’s vs. women’s decisions to accept a stretch role or assignment?  What makes them shrink away? In this dialogue, we’ll look at insights from a new report by Be Leaderly that assesses how men and women determine their ‘readiness to stretch’ differently and what factors they consider in taking on these career-transforming opportunities.

In this interactive presentation, Selena Rezvani, author of the award-winning Pushback: How Smart Women Ask—and Stand Up—for What They Want, will teach you how to amplify your voice at work by preparing ideas that are promotable, recognizing opportunities to back yourself, navigating negotiation conversations with ease and employing a resilience mindset.

Keynote - Dr. Jacinta Jimenez, Rising to the Top: The Science Behind Lasting Leadership

As women leaders, we desire to accomplish goals that matter, inspire others to join us in working toward those goals, and leave a lasting impact. In order to do this, we not only need the right skills, but also sustainable energy and vitality. Unfortunately, getting to the top of what is already an unequal playing field has resulted in women being told they have to push harder and work more. Drawing from her experience of hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro as part of a women-only led expedition summiting on International Women’s Day, Dr. Jimenez will deliver a more grounded and empowering message. Dr. Jimenez uncovers how to translate cutting-edge leadership science into sustainable action. Her talk will reveal a new, evidence-backed model for sustainable success—so that when you do make it to the top, you will have the energy, oxygen, and bandwidth to do the important work you came here to do.

I learned a lot about negotiating, workplace environments, including how to be more inclusive for women, how splitting my energy can be detrimental to my health and productivity, as well as how my identity can impact my goals and passions.

-2018 Male Ally Conference Attendee

"I love how the tracks were integrated this year. I got so much more out of it!"

-2017 Student Track Attendee

"I have attended this conference 3 years in a row on the student track and I'm continued to be blown away. I've attended many conferences but this one has always been my favorite. I'm sad to be graduating and leaving the state but I hope someday when I return to my home state that I will be able to attend."

-2017 Student Track Attendee

"I left the IWLC event armed with better access to effective leadership techniques, and a different outlook on what leadership looks like for women. At best, we know there needs to be more inclusion where women's ideas are met with acceptance in the boardroom, at worksites, and in the elevator. What women of all colors and ethnicities bring to the table cannot be overlooked anymore. Tamron Hall's IWLC quote was fitting, and I carry it with me now as a challenge: "The minute you see a sliver of an opening - kick the door in. No one will ever fully open the door for you."
